How it works
The flow below is the intended shape. None of it is built yet, and the trust model in step 4 is an open decision.
- An owner lists an item, its daily rate, and where to collect it.
- A renter books it for a date range and pays through the platform.
- The two meet to hand it over, photographing the item's condition as the dispute record.
- On return, the condition is confirmed and the owner is paid out. What secures this step — deposit, escrow, identity verification, or some tier of all three — is not yet decided.
Open questions
Two things gate the real build: the trust and safety model for non-returned items, and Thailand's legal requirements for operating a marketplace that handles other people's money. Both are tracked in rental/CLAUDE.md.
